E34 530 vs E39 540 Touring - comments

This can be very helpful when making purchasing choices. I started off with really needing a wagon for space but then of course fell in love with the touring. I though I would shoot this out on the E34 forum for any who have faced this or have otherwise helpful insights.

I am thinking of ride quality, maintenance issues. etc.

If this car was in my neck of the woods - I would grab it just to calm me down for a few months!

I just finished converting a 530it with a M60B40 and a 6 speed transmission today. The 530it came to my house without an engine so I can't comment on the ride of a M60B30. I converted the E34 540ia to a 6 speed before moving it to the 530it. I also have a E39 540it. The feel and ride between E34 and E39 are completely different. The E39 is smoother. As for power, The E34 530 does not belong in the same league as the E39 540.

There would be concerns about nikosil with this car no?
