Heated seat problem

Can any one shed light on the a problem I'm having with the heated seats on a 2008 X3. The passenger seat will not remain on for more than a couple of minutes, sometimes less. My first thought would be a realy...does anyone know the location of the heated seat relay...or other possible causes. I'm doubting a short, becuase a short would most likely keep the seat from heating up at all...or limited, and I would assume kick it off immediately.

Any suggestions or ideas greatly appreciated.

A 2008 model is under full warranty. Take it to the dealer. Could be the heater, a relay or the switch. A short circuit would have immediately blown the fuse. There were some posted problems with the seat heater units in earlier model years.

+1 right to the dealer and let them figure out what it is and fix it.

Big problem area - you might get some "goodwill" help from the dealer but that is doubtful. However, it is a such a well known problem (the heated seats) and there have been serious liability problems (burned butts!) BMW might help you out. Another endemic problem - the pax seat airbag light/sensor was covered no matter what the year or mileage. However no luck with the cheap plastic window drive dogs, nor the self destructing expansion tanks.......
