Smile Newbie - First Post!

My first post!!! We have just bought a 2006 X3 and are loving it. This beauty has the Sports, Premium and Winter Packages. Silver Grey with black leather interior. I know it's a first post rule to add a photograph, so here it is. Not the best picture but it's the only one we have so far. This is primarily my wifes car but I had the chance to drive it through the Idaho and Wyoming mountain roads the other day and it handles like a dream. We were in the market for a Rav 4 Sport or the X3 and I think we made the right choice.

Cheers!
Leathers

Congratulations! It looks beautiful. You did make the right choice. I was looking for RAV 4 too, but then fell in love with X3. Of-course the 0.9% interest rate of BMW compared to 7.9% of Toyota was an added bonus. RAV 4 would have been costlier in terms pf total price paid, maintenance is a different thing though

Nice! I have almost exactly the same model including color combination. I bought mine 18 months ago and still loving it. I did a lot of research before buying mine and the new RAV 4 was top of the list..... until I drove one. Although it's supposedly faster from 0 to 60 than the '06 X3 the fun factor was just non existent compared to the X3. Congrats. Picture of mine is attached.

Stuart.

Nice, i have an '06 with 49K miles on it and it has been virtually trouble free. By not getting the RAV you saved yourself a recall trip too, for gas pedal sticking!!!!:yikes Toyota is recalling a ton of cars/trucks to fix this little problem. I hope you got all three keys, two with the remote on the head and one plastic with a chip embedded in it. The keys recharge while driving so alternating them might be a good idea (not the plastic one though) instead of just leaving the "spare" in a drawer.

This seems to be quite a popular colour.

Thanks for the welcome guys and the compliments regarding the collection in the garage. Yes, we have all three keys with the car and one of the remote ones is dead, doesn't unlock the doors. I will try recharging it like you said but will probably get it looked at under the BMW warranty/maintenance program.

Or try this instead, most of the times key just needs to be reinitialized.

Welcome buddy. I love the way the X3 handles on the road especially in turns. My sister has the RAV 4 and it doesn't compare to the handling of X3.

And when I was 17, I had a fine Ford Anglia.

It was a 46 - that was the year, not the H.P. - which was 8, I believe.
