X1 Safety

Jalopnik has some crash test footage of the X1 (clip #12...here).

The agency's website says the X1 received 5 stars out of 5, for what that is worth...

You can put me down as an X1 fan too. I love my '08 X3 AT, but when my lease expires, purchasing it is unlikely to be sensible.

In summary, the X1 did very well, scoring 87% and 86% in the Adult and Child occupant tests respectively. The pedestrian safety has also improved from previous BMW designs (which were subpar to say the least).

The problem with the X1 is that it is only available with an automatic in the 23d and 28i versions. That means the only model I'd conceivably purchase would be a sDrive20d which will never make it to the US.
