X3 Moonroof
I have a 2004 X3 and I love this vehicle..but, apparently the little weather stripping in the front of the moonroof (as it slides closed) has started to common undone. Now you hear a bit of wind noise while you drive. I have heard that you can apply a clear rt silicone adhesive to reglue the rubber stripping. ..any other idea's besides taking it the dealer for big $$ ???

My 04 does the exact same thing. Just noticed today that it leaks water like mad as well. I am hoping to come up with a fix that does not involve a 1.5 hour drive to the nearest dealer!

Mine dislodged at the front right corner last winter when I bought my X3. I think it might had had some ice in there when I opened the sunroof on the test drive and it pulled it apart. I didn't notice it till after I bought it though.
![]() I used auto trim adhesive and lots of patience to re-stick it. after cleaning the area, applied the adhesive, and then I used a roll of duct tape to press the seal into the corner (rounded edge) and it worked great for applying even pressure while the adhesive set! |
