Rolling back whilst in Drive

My car rolls back when on an incline with the AT in Drive and the engine off. is this normal? I don't recall this happening with any other car.

Yes that is normal, happened to me y'day when I was exiting office's basement parking lot and found that exit is closed due to construction. I took my foot off the accelerator and the car started rolling back after a couple of seconds, the engine cut itself off automatically to prevent damage to drive train.

Someone else posted about the hill hold feature.

The flip side would be it will roll back even when the engine is on and in D after a few seconds. I wouldn't want to be rolling anywhere in this heavy a car without the power. Good to know that this is a caution when not in P.
