6yr/ 100K extended warranty ?

When BMW extended the warranty on the S54 engines with the bearing recall, was the 6yr/100K from the time the car was purchased originally, the time the recall was done, or on top of the original warranty? My car is an 01', the recall was done in 04', but the car only has 51k miles on it and doesn't get driven much so I'm just wondering if the engine is still covered by the factory, and if so for how long. I'm not the original owner and I've had a hard time getting much help from either my local dealer or the dealer that originally sold and serviced the car.

Thanks for any help!

Original in service date. All 01s will be out of warranty. I haven't heard a single issue on cars that have had the recall done (other than the ones that were covered by both recalls).

Well then I would think my 01' would be covered? The recall was done in December 04', so wouldn't I be good until December 2010? I don't plan or expect to have any problems, but what the hell, if I do and it's covered why not....This car will see 30-40 track/AutoX events between now and December 2010, the peace of mind wouldn't be the worst thing.

Negative. It's 6 yrs/100K miles from the date the car was first sold(put into service).

Additionally, ignition coils for 01/02/03's have an 8 yr/unlimited mileage warranty.

Wishful thinking, I've talked to enough guys with 10-15K track miles and no issues so hopefully I have a similar experience
