Writing this in Jan 2010 - I was about to order a 2010 750 and was told by two dealers "we can't really do that anymore there are only a few 2010 production slots slots left, you may have to order a 2011". Needless to say i was surprised since the 2009 had a short model year. Looks like the 2010 will too - and they r going to shift to 2011 production in spring.
I guess that's obvious because even though there has been no 2011 750 announcement they have announced the 2011 Alpina, the 2011 7series hybrid, and just announced the 6 cylinder 2011 740s. So my guess is at the Chicago auto show next month they will announce the 2011 750. Question is, Why wait? if i COULD order a 2010 what will i miss out on in the 2011? Well i think we have the answer: the 2011 5-series is stated by BMW to be a clone of the 7-series in many ways. They have announced all the options for the 5series - and the only things that go beyond the current 7-series options are the autopark, overhead view (which i think relies on the two new cameras on the rear-view mirrors), and more aggressive braking for adaptive cruise control. So if the 5 and 7 r clones, then it seems logical that a 750 produced this spring must have the additional options just announced for the 5. So hopefully we get all of that on the 2011 750 - and maybe we get SOMETHING in the 2011 750 that u can't get in the 5 series? Anyway, looks like 2011 750s can be ordered in March for delivery in May (dealer told me that) - and HOPEFULLY i will be able to get those 3 new features - and anything else they add to the 750 over the 5. Is anyone else looking at all of this and see it this way? Last edited by 7lover; 01-17-2010 at 08:21 PM. |

Press release is fine but marketing people like to do this kind of stuff at shows because all of the journalists r there and they can talk to them - creates a buzz. But either way, as long as i can order by 2011 F02 in March i guess i am happy :-)

I am trying to order a 750 xDrive for European Delivery. I have been told it will have to be a 2011. Since pricing hasn't been announced I can't order the car!
Is it just me or is this a ridiculous. |

Is it because it is ED? Sounds really early for this.

Confirms what i heard
maxsar,
Same thing the dealers r telling me here (northern california) - 2010 750 production line is shutting down to convert to 2011. you can order in march for may delivery. Very surprising but i guess that's the deal. Well then, looking forward to getting my loaded 2011 750Li in May! 7lover |

I most likely will also order a car for May delivery if not later if I go with European Delivery (I have trouble shortening it to ED given the ads for the other ED), but I will also look around and see if I can find a good deal on a 2010. It appears I have some time before I will be able to place an order.

Yea i think they will deal on 2010s now. But I checked inventory nationwide thru a dealer and 90% of the inventory i would consider to be "strippers" - u can tell if the MSRP is under $100K then its missing alot of the options i care about. Plus color choices r getting limited.
Another reason to wait is additional features which the 2011s r bound to have. I am ready to buy now but i can wait for May delivery - just 3 or 4 months now. Last edited by 7lover; 01-24-2010 at 11:16 AM. |

I am with you. Most cars have few options. I can wait. The lease on one car is up in May, and I have a pretty nice toy that is a good daily driver if the delivery gets pushed out even farther.
The idea of saving thousands by driving the car on the autobahn is just too tempting. I go to Germany a few times a year. So not only will I get to drive my new toy in way I can't over here, but I will save a lot on car rental. |
