Shock Sensor DIY?
I did "search" it but apparently I can't find the working one. If you can help me find it, I will really appreciate it.
Thanks. |

The DEI shock sensor that you can hook up to the OEM alarm.
Courtesy of JCsE46 1.) Area of install (see pictures). We will be splicing the sensor into the hood-pin trigger wiring. 2.) Unplug wiring harness, note that the purple wire is what we will be splicing into. 3.) Connect the wires... Yellow to Ground (NEG), Red to constant 12V (POS). Choose the wire of sensitivity and splice into the purple harness wire previously mentioned (Blue/Low Sensitivity, Green/High Sensitivity) 4.) I mounted the shock sensor along the plastic housing near the back since it wasn't the vehicle body or a metal part (per DEI instuctions). This area is also flat and more susceptible to shock. 3M heavy duty two-sided tape was used to mount sensor (P/N 6010ES) as it is strong and resistent to heat. 5.) Cleaned up install with wire housing tubing and tucked the power lead underneath the weatherstripping running along side the strut tower.

Read Jake's post. Again. You read it enough to know that he was responding to the question, but somehow failed to see the answer therein.....

E46's DO NOT have factory shock sensors. Notice how some cars alarm goes off if you hit it or some big truck drives by? Thats what it's for.

I rem some cars would say "please step away from the vehicle" when I walk by. I though it was weird.
