Loving My Winter 17" wheels, thinking about going 18" for summer
My M3 came with the 19" wheels but I'm liking the ride quality of my 17" winter wheels so much that I'm thinking about running 18" for summer.
I'm probably going to go 18" x 9.5" on all 4 corners with the recommended 10mm spacers on the rear. Is there anything else I need to worry about? I'm looking for wheels that will be a reasonable low weight for track duty but this is also my daily driver so I don't want to be stupid about the weight reduction. What do you guys think about the BBS RS GT's? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. #750

You know, that's a great question. If I had some track experience or knew anyone in a similar situation, I'd sure respond.

Quote:
Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 Green X mounted on 17x7.5" Sport Edition CD (Silver Painted) wheels. The ride is now reminiscent of my previous e46 330i zhp which was - of course - not as awesome as my e46 M3 but less harsh on rough, in-the-city roads. The 19" wheels that came with the car are hanging in the garage. I need to make a decision soon on whether to put new rubber on them or go for the 18x9.5" wheels on all corners. If I put rubber on the 19" wheels, I probably wont think about it again seriously until it's time for a new set of tires. #750

FYI: I just found out some additional things about going with 18x9.5" wheels all the way around.
Here are the recommendations: Wheels: 18x9.5" with 3mm offset on all 4 corners and a 10mm spacer for the rear. (SSR's were recommended) Tires: 265/35r18 on all 4 wheels Questions: What does the 3mm offset do? Why the 10mm spacer on the rear wheels? Will tires other than 265/35r18's fit on these wheels? I just assumed that if I provide tirerack with the correct wheel spec's, I'd get tires that fit on the wheels. Is this even something I need to worry about? #750
