6 Series
The BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations. |

Thank God for CPO warranty
Guys if you only have a 50K warranty I urge you to get it to 100K. I walked into a BMW service dept last week and before I even could tell him what was wrong, he said I hope you have a warranty on this puppy!! When asked why, he said NOONE can afford these cars! Nice start. Turns out I needed $9,000 worth of repairs on an 05 645 with 63k. Tranny gasket, also leaking coolant, also windshield wiper pump. Worked on it for 24 hours!! Cost to me...$50 deductible. Convertible top went out the next week for the 5th time...$50 bucks. This car is my favorite I have ever had but it is in the shop alot and is a pain for lost time but I can't imagine if I had to be paying too. I want to keep this past 100K. Anyone have a warranty from a third party company past 100 or is it too soon for anyone to be looking at 100k?

+1!
I"m not sure about the >100k warranty but I plan on keeping this car another four years, which will probably take it over 100k. I'll need an extended warranty too.

I have a warranty from C.A.R.S. http://www.carsprotectionplus.com/ - 4years - unlimited miles (mostly all of the mechanical parts and such). Gaskets are only covered if other repairs are needed (that will make that gasket comeout). I got that from the dealer when i bought this car used (dealer sold it to me at wholesale cost $1800.00) I haven't use this yet, but several mechanics told me that this is a good reputable company that pays their claims well. I'll do some more research on the web to find some feedback from other customers of this warranty company.

My Wife had a C.A.R.S warranty on a Buick we used to have, I can't remember what we paid for the coverage but it was a fair deal, it covered most mechanical stuff and most electrical, we had a water pump go and it was all covered, it was explained to me that if they had to split a gasget to get to the pump and a necessity for the reapair it was covered.

But you can get an extended by the time you are ready that should be pretty reasonable. Now it cost about 4K to get an decent non BMW one. BMW will not extend for you since you're not the original owner.Stop worrying and drive the car man . Mine actually ends 8/10 which is also one of the reason I am looking to move into something else.

It's crazy that we spend this kind of money on a 6 and we are all worried about getting out of them before the warranty expires

If you're that worried about it, go buy a Honda. These are very expensive vehicles that can require expensive repairs and that's why I have a proper extended warranty on the car.

I here you but I am moving out of mine just for upgrade purposes so it's not like I am leaving the 6er. I still believe the 6 is one of the nicest cars on the road today. The newer ones have some more features and have definately improved on exisiting things from my 04 model. The price is all relative. It cost a lot and will take a lot to maintain and we all know this going in. I have friends that have 100K plus cars and you do not want to see their repair bills or simple maintenance cost. So the 6er is just right for my pocket.

So what the best warranty for the 6-er? I know that there have been multiple threads on the debate about getting extended maintenance and or warranty?
Any warranty companies have given you guys excellent coverage that you can recollect? |

I was reading up on extended warranties this week, and read something that I did not know! If you have a BMW extended or CPO warranty, all work must be performed on the vehicle has to be done by BMW. Anyone one else, and they want honor the warranty. Is this true?

"BMW will not extend for you since you're not the original owner."
Are you sure that is the case? The 6er I was going to buy before this one only had up to 50k and the non BNW dealer called his buddy at a BMW dealer to ask if I could buy one and what the price was and he said no problem. Can't remember the price but I think you can do a workaround if they know someone? |

Yeah it's a BMW warranty not third party.

650i beta version
I have a 2006 CPO 650i convertible, about 40K miles, just went out of 4yr warranty, now onto CPO +2 yrs. After taking delivery as CPO 1 year ago -- that is AFTER passing certification -- it has had nearly $8,000 in various "minor" repairs, all covered under original warranty; for example, window regulators have had to be replaced twice in a year! Not including scheduled maintenance, it has been in the shop for repairs more times in 1 year than all 3 of my 3-series combined have been over the past 10 years of ownership! Hasn't been in yet under CPO warranty, but it has developed a squeaky fan that probably needs to be fixed soon.

That used to be the case, but BMW recently changed it so that you can get an extend BMW warranty through BMW even if you are not the original owner. The only catch is that you have to get the warranty before the existing factory warranty expires.
