I"m looking into a turbo build on my 328. i have some parts and pieces put together but I"m pretty skeptical about running lean and wrecking everything. what did you use for a turbo, injectors, tuning, ect.? Any advice you could give me would be great. I have found one place for tuning and they want me to buy there kit, there exhaust, they have to install it ect. considering i work at a bmw dealer as a tech. i would kind of like to do it myself.

what y aplan on doing for the drain from the turbo? supposed to be a straight of a shot as possible from the bottom of the turbo to the pan, you dont want it to pool in the drain and start to clog. also your filter is going to be a mess underthere so i would try to find an outerwear for it. your inlet is going to be in a dangerous spot under the front carriage like that, watch for ground clearance.

I'm using a Turbonetics 50 trim, just rebuilt, stage 3 wheel, the one in my avatar. Ford green top 42# injectors TRM remote tune (from the website below) Also, go to racersmarket.net, really good guys there and a nice setup. You can learn anything and everything from here http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...play.php?f=150 And doing it yourself is the best! You learn so much and apprectiate it way more! Quote:
Check the thread man, we're making a 3" turbo back exhaust, flowmaster turbo muffler, and a resonator. Porsche 803 3.5" MAF Quote:

And what filter? There is no filter under the frame? ![]() The inlet is a little low, but wait for finished pics, you'll see. It will raise with the suspension, making it not as bad. But you're right, it's not ideal, but I want to keep A/C. |

Was talkin about having your air filter down there....on the intake side of the turbo ![]() Keep the A/C for sure, no sense of building something that isnt comfortable to drive. I did a turbo on my last mustang and it would have been a lot easier to make the plumbing without it but got to have A/C. Make sure you use some good t-bolts clamps on the inlet since its down there...pretty much the entire cold side could use em. But good lookin build...turbos are great

The turbo filter won't be down there, there will be a pipe running beside the engine bay where the washer fluid used to be, with the MAF and filter. T bolts will be used everywhere. Thanks! |

I was wondering if you were going to run a pipe up and run it draw thru or just run the filter there and have a blow thru setup. I will look around for the place i got my turbo blanket from, that thing was awesome and a decent price

Cool, yea draw through tune.
TRM's blow through tune isn't finalized yet, plus I don't want to have to clean gunk and oil from my Maf every oil change. |

![]() Intercooler, in these pictures you can see the new ends welded on, one side 2.5", the other 3" Don does nice tig work, I wish I could tig And I wish I had access to one so I could learn how to.![]() ![]() Dirty engine bay/manifold shot, everything is almost back together. ![]() More engine bay shots. Waiting the the throttle body to be tigged up, then it can be started. ![]() Mhhmmmmm, the exhaust turned out sick. ![]() ![]() Yes I had to hack at my valance, but I'm going to clean it up, and eventually get a M3 bumper, so it won't matter anyway. ![]() Intercooler looks crooked here, but it isn't tightened down yet. It's straight in the other pics. ![]() ![]() Oil drain hole drilled and tapped, then the fitting was threaded with JB Weld. ![]() And installed ![]() And again. ![]() Turbo in it's final position. ![]() Exhaust porn ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Wastegate placement, and plumbing. And one of my favorite parts ![]() I've never seen anyone do this, many guys leave it in the engine bay, or glovebox, ect. So I thought I would be different. It looks stock and very clean. I love it! ![]() ![]() Please ignore my sh!tty a$$ interior. I will be swapping it all to black sometime. So cliff is: Finished all of the exhaust Mounted intercooler Engine is all but buttoned up Interior is done and back together Wastegate is plumbed and mounted All gauges are done O2 sensor and Wideband installed Boost controller is finished So what's left is intercooler/intake piping Catch can Little things that I'll remember later. Comments/tips appreciated and welcome fellas! Oh, and btw, boost FTDKW! |
