E92/93 First Aid Kit

Everything I've read indicates that ED E92/93's have their first aid kit in a "shelf/drawer" underneath the passenger seat.

I would like to retrofit my NA delivery E93 with this -- have ordered the kit that comes with a shelf.

I would most appreciate if any ED E93 or E92's with this config could either post or send me some detailed pics.

TIA

Kat

I thought about doing that too, but in the end the first-aid kit from my last car fit perfectly in the small space on the far left-hand side of the trunk under the little door in the floor. Works for me.

Thanks! Looking forward to it. My kit and shelf should arrive some time next week (think--hope)

+1. Got one from a local auto parts store. It is no worse than an OEM one, fits nicely in the trunk.

Maybe the E93's are different from the E92, or they have all changed since 2007. But my '07 ED E92 came with the first aid kit in the space in the trunk.

I took delivery of my '09-E93 from ED. I was told that the under seat storage was for only for cars picked-up in Europe. While the storage space is made for a first aid kit, the kit they gave us was twice as big as the under-seat storage. It was filled with a lot of different bandages. My wife (a scrub nurse) said it was enough for several operations.

This kit was so big that we kept it in the trunk with the suitcases.

The front face of the under-seat storage unit opens, unfolding from the top of the face and rotating forward to rest on the floor mat. This unit is cheaply made and does not stay dogged in the closed position unless you work the plastic notch to capture the door.

I don't care much for this unit, however the Folding Hazard Triangle issued for ED fits in the trunk lid and is rather nice.

ED cars do have FAK and emergency triangles to satisfy EU requirements. I hear they remove both at the port of entry in the U.S. So you are one of the lucky folks to have retained the kit.

I believe most people put them in their suitcase prior to dropping off the car.

Good point, if you know it would be removed otherwise.

On ED cars the first aid kit fits perfectly in the gray tray on the right side of the trunk (E92). The triangle is hung in the roof of the trunk area on the left side and fits into 2 straps that are fitted in the car. If you want to retain both items after ED (I did) you have to take them both out of the car in Europe. Neither meets DOT standards and both will be pulled in Germany at the port by BMW if left in the car. Another thing I never knew is that the small gray felt "floor" in the tray on the right side comes out and under it is a small BMW tool kit.

...and then get pulled out of line at Charles de Gaulle and questioned by airport security as to why they have a pair of scissors in their carry-on. Note to self (and other Festers), check the first-aid kit unless you enjoy bag - and possibly cavity - searches.

Pictures of first aid kit and triangle in E93

Here are a a couple pictures of the first aid kit and box under the passanger seat from my ED E93. Also a picture of what comes in it so that you can see how much it holds. Also, a pic of where the triangle sits in the trunk.

That's interesting. Does it only come that way on the E93?

+1 That's where mine is. Little plastic zip-pouche from Target. It sits on top of my bungee cords and prevents them from ratteling.

Kat, you're going to have your 'vert 100% European spec soon...I bet you are already eyeing the split armrest.

Cool. What's the part number for the kit?

I do have to admit I've thought about it. My concern is that the dye lot of the leather match and that it would also have the sun reflective technology version of leather on it. The SRT really makes a huge difference.

Plus, if I understand correctly, I'd have to do an engine swap as well to make it truly 100% European spec.

N4S and DkReidel,

Thanks so much for the pictures! That will help me figure this out when it shows up.
I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions, once I see what I got.

That is so cool.

Kat - you have a price, parts, location on this retrofit?

Anyone know where to get a triangle similar to the OEM one?

I ordered the actual first aid kit from ECS Tuning: p/n ES195710

From Tischer:
The empty first aid box: p/n 52106971063
Mounting Bracket: p/n 52108267529
Mounting Screw: p/n 07149169302

Total cost of parts: about $50

I too would like to know if anyone has a part number/source for the folding triangle -- that is cool.
