Just ordered new 2011 X5 5.0i, have a question about the XAV package.
Hello guys, new to the forums here
I recently ordered a fully loaded 2011 x5, and I got both the Active Ventilation and Sport Package. My question to you all is this, why does the Sport Package double charge for the multi-coutour seats ($900) when the Active Ventilation lists them as part of the package ($2100)? I brought this up with my dealer and he couldn't respond adequately, instead bumped the question up to his regional manager with BMW. Still waiting for a response from them. The second question I have is, does active ventilation work adequately in the BMW? |

When I ordered my 2010 I had the following option choices: the multi contour seat was a $900.00 option if you ordered sport package. (the sport seats have some of the features / adjustments that are included in the mcs) The multi contour seat was a stand alone option of $1300.00 or the multi contour seat was part of the Active Ventilated Seat pkg.
I have the multi contour seats and also had them on my 550, I would not buy a BMW without them. You should consider taking delivery at the Performance Center!!!!!! Great experience and they will install the trailer hitch for $607.00 vs 1200-1500 dealers charge. 2010 X5d Sport, Tech, Prem, Multi Contour, 3rd row, Cold Weather, Prem Sound, Rear Climate, Roof Rails, Running Boards, Sat, iPod-usb PCD 2/12/10 |

I can't speak for an 11, but when I ordered my 2010 35d, the initial build showed the ventilated seat plus multi contour. I ordered in early sept 09, which was only a few weeks after they began taking 2010 orders.
I raised this with the CA, and he said he would check into it. About a week later, the ordering system was corrected, showing that multi contour came with ventilated seats. Of course, this may have change for the 2011, but for the 2010 it worked out. |

If you get the Sport pkg they are only 900 more. If you get the ventilated seats they are included. So you don't order the multi contour seats if you get sport+vent. That's my understanding... Oh, I'd never get ventilated seats- the leather perforation reduces the life of the seats, makes them harder to keep clean, etc A |

I agree with ard about the negative aspects of perf leather. The vent seats are only useful in very hot areas, especially hot dry areas. In MT, I'd stick with non perf leather.

My issue is that I ordered BOTH the Active Ventilation ($2100) and Sport Package ($2200). The build sheet from the website doesn't negate the $900 charge that gets checked off in replacement of the sport seats as part of the sport package. If I unchecked the multi-contour seats in the sport package and checked sport seats, it unchecked Active Ventilation. So essentially I'm paying $900 more if I get both packages that include multi-contour seats.

I have not seen the 2011 order screen yet, but when I ordered my 2010 on 1/4/2010 the multi contour seats were a $900 option within the $2200 sport package. When you check the Active Vent Seat Pkg it automatically checked the multi seats in the Sport Pkg but does not double charge you.
When I ordered I received a 2 page print out named " Vehicle Inquiry: Design / MSRP, it listed my production number, dealer info, order status and EVERY OPTION and COST breakdown. The dealer gets this printout after they place the order. Ask you dealer for a copy, this will verify the vehicle was ordered exactly as you specified. 2010 X5d |

Wait, you are using the on-line pricing to negotiate?!?!? 1. Use the published invoice price 2. Do not even discuss MSRP 3. Do not rely on the web application...it doesn't necessarily follow the actual pricing. I'd bet your dealer is trying to figure out how to keep you in the dark without out and out lying about it.... On all other pricing sheets the sport pkg can be ordered without multi contour... here: http://www.xoutpost.com/650618-post47.html GL A |

Couldn't disagree more on the aspects of perforated leather. Every vehicle that I have owned with perforated leather has lasted longer and resisted wearing/creasing/wrinkling than any car without. I take very good care of my interiors, and make sure not to abuse them, and have always had the complete opposite experience...
Arjuno, what colour combo did you choose? |

I do have a wholesale pricing sheet, problem is that its a summary sheet from my dealer based on my 2011 x5 50i. There will be some items you might get (if you are getting a 50i) that might not be listed in this order. Although my build is fairly loaded (minus the M Sport Package), you should be able to get a good idea what the prices are for the packages as long as its a 50i US build.
Model 1162 X5 xDrive50i 53,730.00 (58,400.00 MSRP) ZAP Sport Activity Package 2,000.00 (2,200.00) ZAV Active ventilated seat package 1,910.00 (2,100.00) ZCW Cold Weather Package 820.00 (900.00) ZPP Premium Package 2,000.00 (2,200.00) ZPS Premium Sound Package 1,640.00 (1,800.00) ZRC Rear Climate Package 820.00 (900.00) ZTP Technology Package 2,820.00 (3,100.00) 217 Active Steering 1,410.00 (1,550.00) 322 Comfort Access keyless entry 910.00 (1,000.00) 328 Running boards 275.00 (300.00) Sport Package 2LM 20" Y-Spoke (Style 366) 865.00 (950.00) 2VA Adaptive Drive 3,185.00 (3,500.00) **456 Multi-contour seats 820.00 (900.00)** This is the charge that caused me to start this thread, since then the dealer has adjusted it. 386 Roof rails 90.00 (100.00) 496 Heated rear seats 320.00 (350.00) 5AC Automatic high beams 230.00 (250.00) 5DK Side view camera 275.00 (300.00) 5AD Lane Departure Warning 865.00 (950.00) 5DF Active Cruise Control 2,185.00 (2,400.00) 610 Head-up Display 1,185.00 (1,300.00) 6FF Rear seat entertainment 1,545.00 (1,700.00) Destination Charge 875.00 (875.00) Training/Service Fee 200.00 (200.00) * Since then, I've changed my package by switching out of the Active ventilated seats to Nappa leather seats and Nappa leather Dash. Nappa Leather Seats 2,185.00 (2,400.00) *getting multi-contour seats automatically switches the leather and also includes the upgraded dash. Now, these prices are going to be different if you are ordering packages for the 2011 35i or 30d, but these are accurate for the 50i. There are certain options (side view camera and 4 colors-Jet black, carbon black metallic, vermillion red metallic, platinum bronze metallic) that will bump your 2011 production to 5/10. Hope that helps!! PS. In response to some of the earlier posts that I missed, mine is either going to be a Black Sapphire Metallic (my current is this color with black interior), Alpine White, or Titanium Silver. The interior will be Black Nappa (I wanted the Beige, but we have a new baby and a black lab) with Light Poplar Wood Trim. I basically negotiated a deal out of the Boulder, CO area dealer for 1,500 over invoice with no other hidden costs. I'm waiting to get to a dealer soon to actually see the x5's in the colors I'm leaning towards before I finalize the order for May production (damn side view camera, my wife insists on it since we have some blind corners etc where we live)!! PSS. I also wanted to ask some of you here about your thoughts on the clear front-end chip protector that the dealers offer. Does it work well (without fading discoloring etc)? All the USA dealers should have the 2011 pricing already. Some dealers will act ignorant or outright deny seeing the sheets for various reasons. They want to move their current stock or allotment off their property instead of continuing to pay insurance on their cars. Also pricing for the 35i base model for 2011 is $1800 lower, 35d (in my above posts I refer to the 30d, I meant 35d) remains unchanged and 50i went up $2100.
My family and myself included have owned many BMWs over the years. We also have a family friend that is a sales manager at the BMW dealership in the town I grew up in. He always helps my family with the best possible deals, and I basically ran deals from 6 dealers in a 500 mile radius of the city I live in (no BMW dealer here) with him. He gave me the invoice pricing and I faxed those over to the various dealers to get the best possible competing bids. I couldn't get better than $1500 above factory invoice for a 2011. Arjuno, just wondering when you put the order in for yours and when do you expect to pick up the car?

I'm actually not going to get the first production cycle in April, because I ordered side view camera. That option automatically switched it to May production, so the car won't be delivered to the dealership until late May. If you look in the earlier post in this thread, you can see what will switch production.
I'm going to be picking up my car from LA during the first week of June, drive down to San Diego for a conference then drive back up the coast up to Seattle before coming home. Can't wait, should be fun. Last edited by arjuno; 03-02-2010 at 11:08 PM. |

I'd highly recommend driving the Pacific Coast Highway, if you have some extra time. I drove it from Seattle to Santa Barbara for Bimmerfest 2008 (in my 335i), and it was awesome. I'd like to someday finish the remaining part from LA to San Diego.
