Additional 2011 X5 Info

hi,

we had a 2008 x5 4.8 with active steering and want to order the new 2011 as a diesel. the 2010 did not offer it, and i'm wondering if anybody can confirm availability of this 'don't live without - feature' for the new model year.
the us manufactured car for germany offered it already in 2010. some odd bmwna politics again...

I doubt it will be available for 2011. It wasn't offered in 09, or 2010... I know it's available for the ROW, but not the U.S. Same thing with 20" wheels for the diesel. That might change with the M Sport package for 2011...

Based on X6 prem. pkg pricing which contains similar individual options and the rear climate pkg. pricing, I guess the convinience pkg will cost around 1800 + 900.

So 2011 premium will cost nearly $55k where My2010 with prem and rear climate pkg.
will cost $52775.

Is 19 inch wheel worth $2000?

19 inch rim, atleast 1k, plus better engine, is at least 1k! so take it easy, better car,or better price, take a pick lol

any news on new safety features with the '11 x5? my wife is particularly impressed with volvo's city safety accident avoidance system. i can't seem to find anything similar with the new x5.

Are you talking about the system that automatically brakes if you're not paying attention and a vehicle in front of you stops?

yes, sorta. there are a couple of systems out there--volvo's newest one is designed primarily for low speeds (under 19 mph), whereas quite a few mfr's have accident avoidance type braking systems coupled with their laser cruise control (obviously two very different applications). i learned today that the mdx has the latter, but not the former. i also checked out the volvos (xc60 - too small, and xc90 - none of the xc60's new safety equipment), so i'm pretty much done with that line for now.

Will blind spot detection, lane depatrure warning and/or night vision be added as options? I hope so!

After looking at MY2011 ordering guide, there is no way of getting PDC as a standalone option. It is a part of the tech-pkg now. This is a killer deal for my wife.

I haven't seen any invoice pricing yet out there, but if you look at some old invoice price lists from 2009 and 2010 they will tell you that the mark-up on pretty much all options is around 10%. That should give you an idea on the 2011 invoice pricing, i.e. multiply retail pricing by 0.9....

What makes this a "don't live without" option? Tying to decide if worth ordering. Thanks

I have 2011 invoice pricing for a 50i, sorry I don't have any for the 35d or 35i. Might be able to find those with some google searches. Look in the following thread
