91 750iL - Key will not unlock door-Help

Hi everyone,
I am hoping someone can tell me how to get into my car. I don't know if the car battery is dead or what is wrong with it. I cannot get the key to turn counterclockwise to manually open the door with the handle up. It will turn clockwise, but only one stop counter-clockwise. I can open my trunk, lock the trunk, but it will not unlock the doors. I am not sure how else to get in the car to be able to check fuses, battery or open the hood. Do I need to call a tow truck to open the door with a slim jim? If that is the case, will they damage my door? Would a bmw mechanic be able to open it? Any thoughts on what I might do would be appreciated. Thank you.
Very frustrated,
750il 1991

Thumbs up Luke use your force :D

This thread is a little old but for anyone who's having this issue..
I think this is common for the e38.
Just put the key in the lock turn it when it stops turning just gently apply a little more force and it will unlock the door....the other think to do is to put a new battery and unlock the doors from the key
