12 hour rule violator stories

So, my dad just put in his order for his first ED, and he is making excuses to violate the 12 hour rule, or even *gasp* cancel his 'fest account before he leaves to try to circumvent it. Anyway, I haven't seen a thread where everyone posts their "repercussions" for violating the 12 hour rule, so let me start:

I posted my pics about a day late. My trip was cursed with rain/clouds (not one sunny day!) and it took 12 weeks to get my car.

Hey, if you want to drive it back from LA, the gods WILL BE GOOD!

It seems to be a combination of redelivery delays and delays due to in-transit damage.

I am hard-pressed to think of anyone who complied with the 12-hour rule who suffered from either.

Tell him once he's aware of the 12 hour rule, he cannot escape its wrath. Even canceling his 'fest account will just result in further problems down the road that merely posting a few pictures within 12 hours of getting delivery would just simply avoid.

Remember, that which has been seen cannot be unseen...

I guess the real question is why is the OP´s father trying so hard just to avoid posting a photo within 12 hours of delivery. It´s not an unreasonable timeframe.

it really is not, especially given the potential consequences.

It's not that i don't want to, it's that I would rather be driving rather than doing stuff on the computer! I do that all day long and after 34 years, I need a BREAK!

5 min. or less or computer time versus all sorts of problems... hmmm

We violated the 12-hour rule, and got pulled over twice in the next 24 hours. No citation/ticket, just checking papers (I would go so far as to assert we were profiled), but still a hassle.

Nevertheless, we did get the car (to NJ) exactly four weeks after drop-off.

Well he needs to get me the picture first but I would surely oblige him. But if he's able to email the pictures he will surely be able to post them here.

I think there are lesser punishments for those who comply via proxy. Maybe bad schnitzel...

Seriously, gods, you have no idea how hard it is to stop driving a new car just to look for an internet cafe to upload photos. It's unfair. I mean - it's not like the autobahn is littered with them.

At least with 24 hours, you'll be back in the hotel room at night where it's more convenient to make the necessary offerings.

And you punished me, oh vengeful ones, for merely delaying it. I was about to provide thee with great photographs - "brochure quality" as they would eventually be described by the pious ones here on the 'fest. Yet you were not satisfied with the delay, and woe befell me as you cursed me with a two-inch deep gash on my rear bumper the next morning. And it how sinister your tool of devastation was - an invisible, undetectable evil steel contraption that you spawned in a parking lot outside the Regensburg Bed & Breakfast - the very same place where I uploaded my photos with nary but a few hours past thy deadline.

As penance I had to have my bumper replaced after redelivery.

Look. Extend it to 24 hours or I'm changing sides to Buddha. Or Zeus if I can't go vegetarian. Or whatever god governs the Audi minions. So there.

i violated on my last ED and got 11 week redelivery, got pulled over by unmarked german cops who then checked out my engine.
oh also i bought a nice scotch on the plane, but since i had a flight transfer from frankfurt, (and the bottle wasn't security sealed) i had to give it to the ground crew whom i'm sure had a happy night.
we had nice weather though, must be cuz i was within 24 hours i got a break

I was late to my posting, and in between leaving the Welt, and getting to a location with internet, I was pulled over by the Austrian Polizei. Got off lucky with a 25 Euro "warning".
