645 vert questions
Hello all,
I was planning to swap my 2001 E39 530i for a 2004 645 coupe but found out I don't fit; My 6ft6" means my knees are surrounding the steering wheel so the brake pedal is just out of reach. On the other side of the car my head was trying to kiss the sunroof. I also found out that the rag top means more headroom and that the chair is almost half an inch further away from the pedals. So I tried one for size and it's a perfect fit. I've never owned a convertible before and read on this forum some people have had problems with a sensor preventing it from opening (don't care; I'd have been very happy with the coupe) or closing (very big deal, I'm allergic to rain ). So, a couple of questions; - Is buying a 6 year old convertible smart/stupid ? - Is there a way to manually open/close the roof when the automatic mode fails ? - How unpleasant is driving a closed convertible in freezing cold winters ? Thanks for reading. |

I'm 6.3 and love the vert! You can open/close the top manually (though it's a pain..) Cold weather is just the same as in the "cage" - full bodied car. Not cold or hot. AC/heater works just fine. Mine is 2005 and no problems with the roof. Just keep these batteries charged up:-) Oh, and if you live up north - snow tires are the must!

No problem with my vert top operation. Didn't know about the manual operation.

I am 6'5 and use my 6 vert as a daily driver and love it. Driving in the winter is just as fun as driving in the summer that is why you have heated seats and steering wheel (snow tires are a must depending on where home is). This car puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel!

Wow, I'm 6'7" and I fit comfortably in my 6 with head room and my seat back it semi straight (no lean back, if you get my drift).....interesting ![]() It's more a personal choice on verts...I've never been a fan of verts, never will. |
