Rear view mirror
From a safety point of view, the location (and size) of the M rearview mirror is not ideal as it is blocking quite a bit of forward and right corner view.
I am aware of the solution proposed by http://z3mirrors.com/ but as I want to keep the M mirror, this is not really a solution, as well as the fact that I have the remote entry receiver built inside the mirror stalk. So, the question goes, would it not be possible to fabricate very small adapter, which has the same fitting to the windshield as the original but aligns very closely to the roofline? I am thinking Ron Stygar or Randy Forbes would certainly have the abilities to machine a base to fit (but maybe not the time). Alternatively, would any of the other M models' rearview mirrors fit?

My current project, producing more tools to remove the shift lever from above, takes precedent this week. I sold my last tool Friday and have to have them available to purchasers of my Ron Stygar Design Shortened Shift Lever.

I saw a couple of cars with a small mirror mounted to the left of the bump with the lights in it at HC. VERY out of the way.

ask Gary
I would ask Gery about this. I don't know if you did yet. He looks to have spent a lot of time on this subject.
I have his adapter and the small mirror. This is the best mod I've done! I hated the M mirror. He has relocation instructions for relocating the receiver. I would think its worth the effort. There is so much more visibility now.
