Exporting music FROM car's hard drive

I'm trying to export all my stored music from my iDrive to transfer to a new vehicle's hard drive. I put in a 4G memory stick (Kingston) into glove box usb and everything seemed to work until the download stopped at 0% and displayed "memory full" but the stick was still empty.

I'm getting my new car on Friday this week. What do I need to do (purchase?) to save my tunes!
