Ugly Six... Who wants !! I love my '06 E64.. There'll be nothing like it anymore.

Boy, that is some ugly car.. My dealer confirms that the front will look just like the newly released 7 and the newly released 5 (a.k.a mini 7). And with that metal hard top, you can forget it about any horsepower improvement from our current models...Now, I'm set on keeping my car forever. Our current 2004-2010 sixers will be classic cars due to their beautiful design, which sets them apart from other current models.

These new BMWs all look alike, there is no distinction from one model to the other. We always expected the six to be a more refined and select model. With this new crop of cars, it looks like BMW is in the cookie cutter business, if you like a two-door model big coupe, you pick the six, if you want 4 door sedan and want to keep it economical you pick the 5 and so on, however all models have the same ugly square front for the so called "pedestrian protection".. No thanks... I love my car just a bit too much.

If, *if* ... the pics in this thread are accurate (all of these pics have been around the interwebs for over a year now) ... then there is nothing I can disagree with in your post.

I recall reading an article a few months ago where a BMW rep stated (and I paraphrase): "... the new 6 series will be the most stunning car BMW has designed to date ..." As such, I will withhold judgement until I see official, non-camo'd pics and vids. Until then, it's all conjecture.

Not true - this is the first set showing the hard top. So these are very recent.

I remember reading this too... I'm sure it was one of the head guys in the Design department

Looked at a photo up close and you can make out the proportions of the lights and grill

Hmmm. That roof-line looks suspiciously like the 3-Series hardtop/convertible.

Just did a side-by-side on this and the spy photo - you're right. The actual 6er roofline proceeds farther back and doesn't curve in towards the back as much. Still, this goes to show, it's going to be a beautiful car if even half of the details on the latest renderings are close.

Most of these renderings seem pretty bogus to me; especially the front ends. I say this because many of them have nowhere to put a number plate (which is a legal requirement in most of the countries in which BMW sells) or only for a long-and-thin euro plate and not a taller US or Japanese plate.

the current 6 has no built in plate holder, the plates go on an optional holder that you can screw into your bumper... for the lucky few that live in states with no front plates, you can leave the holder off for a cleaner look...

when I got my 6, I had the painful honor of drilling into my bumper to attach the plates...

i heard from a reliable source that it will be a twin turbo V8 that will be around 400-410. this could be very true. but i have not heard anyting about the M6. if the regular 6 is gaining 40-50 HP whats the M6 gaining?

Whatever the design, it's imperative the 6 have a distintctly different face than the rest of the BMW line. Anything that resembles a 1, 3, 5 or 7 face will be an A/S5 like Audisappointment: beautiful, unique design absolutely cheapened by smearing it across the entire line.

I wouldn't be mad at something like this.
