E63 / E64 6 Series (2003 - 2013)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

Window Anti-Pinch Problems

Is there a reset procedure for the anti-pinch system on the windows in the 6 series? Both of my windows will go about 2/3's up and then go back down as the anti-pinch seems to be getting triggered. I have a feeling this is due to the tint that the dealer did, and its been back to them one time because of this, but all the sudden its doing it again now. Very annoying as i have to tap the windows up about 15 times to get them to roll up without triggering the anti-pinch sensors...

I had read that (on one model BMW or another) you roll them all the way down then hold up on the switch until it closes and then continue holding up for 5 additional seconds but... that doesn't really work as the anti-pinch kicks in every time about 2/3's up so i can never get them all the way up in one motion.

Minutes later I may have solved my own problem. I was under the impression that they had to roll all the way down and all the way back up for the reset to work, but maybe that's not the case...

I rolled them down only 1/3 of the way (to the point at which I know they will go back up without stopping) and then held the up position until they closed and also for an additional 5 or so seconds. 3 attempts to roll up from all the way down succeeded after that. We'll see, however, if the problem comes back again like it did after the dealer had it.
