Instructions on installing OEM Ipod Interface? And Software Bulletin :)

I just bought the Ipod retro Kit on ebay, great price i think.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_500wt_1066

Does anyone have install instructions?

Also, there is a bulletin for getting the software for the ipod retrofit for free at BMW.
If anyone has it I would greatly appreciate!

Great price! The part number you purchased has been superceded by part number 65 11 0 439 425. I think the difference is the ability to charge the latest generation iPhone/iPod (Apple changed the voltage), but I'm not certain.
Since you already have a CD changer (which I assume since the part number you purchased is for a 6 with the changer), the installation is simple: unplug the changer, plug in the adapter. (Do a forum search on ipod and you'll find a post with installation photos - it's really simple.)

You'll probably want a new "CD Blanking Plate" - 51 16 7 130 884, about 10 bucks from BMW to cover the MOST interface.

The SIB can be found at http://bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/bull...p/B651805g.htm http://bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/bull...p/B653005g.htm but it has expired and you probably don't need it. If you can play an MP3 disc in your single disc slot, you're good to go - literally plug 'n play. If not, show the SIB to your SA and try to get him to honor it.

Good luck.

Hi all... I'm a newbie to this site - love it. I'm looking for the integration package as mentioned in this post. My question is, I have a 2004 745Li with i-drive. Since I have a 6 disk cd changer, would this part work in my car as well?

I ask because in my search for a solution, I ran into one from bavauto.com. They have the same part number as you are talking about here. Only the disclaimer worries me a bit.

Disclaimer:
Warning! We have NOT confirmed that this product fits a 2004 745Li.
We have 1000's of parts for your 2004 745Li in our online store.

Since I have a cd changer in the front above the glove box, I would assume it would work. Can anyone help me with this? I trust this site more than just about any.

Thanks in advance,

Jb

Maybe give Bav Auto a call, they may be able to give you more details over the phone.
I bought an iPod adapter from Bav Auto for my E46 several years back and it's been troublesome. I had to go to the manufacturer to get it swapped out within the first year, then it promptly stopped charging the newer devices which is a problem for longer drives. I needed an upgrade so I went with the device from Bav Sound, which shows it would be compatible with the 7 series. I get bluetooth, streaming, and USB connection so I should not have to upgrade again for a while. I received it but have not been able to install it yet.

Good luck.

Question, my ipod in my 2006 650 works great with the ipod adapter. But why does the ipod start the song over every time I restart the car? Is
that a setting on the ipod or the car?
