Unhappy Auto transmission slipping!! Help!

Today I drove to the local market, and on the way back i was pulling out of the lot, and felt a little shaking, and lack of acceleration but high rev's. It was only doing this shaking when starting off in the beggining. I drove a little further, and it got worse I drove to my uncles house and he knows his stuff bout beamers and he told me that my tranny is done? I hit the gas lightly and it pulls through slowly, but when i use my pedal a little harder, it doesnt do anything, just revs higher. Im 16 w/ no job.... how do i fix this! thanks all. Its a 1990 525i w/ 116k miles on it..

yes, yes... It may just be the fluid level. Do a tranny tune up to include filter and gascet. You may luck out and that be the only problem with the transmission. If your car has a dip stick for the tranny, check the tranny fluid level with the car at operating temp and the motor running, if it has no dipdtic for the trans, your car needs to be on a lift to check it. The type of atf and all other fluids are in the manual.

Download the manual for your car here. http://rs57.rapidshare.com/files/118...Searchable.pdf

How to check if you've too little transmission fluid

Yeah, a few mechs misdiagnosed the problem with my transmission, when it was just a lack of fluid. Try this test. Drive fast (40mph) then brake hard suddenly. When the car comes to a stop, release the brake pedal, don't touch the accelerator pedal, and see if your car begins moving normally. If there's anything like a 5-10 sec delay between you releasing the brakes and the car moving, its very likely a lack of fluid.

Becareful AAMCO F***ED me over. I took my car in to have it looked at and they never checked fuild level. THey told me it need a rebuild when all it needs was a qouart or two of fluid. So they tore it down and only first gear showed some wear told me it was going to cost me $2800. After they screwed me over I brought the car home in pices and they didnt not give me all the parts or gave me parts to a totaly different tranmission! They charged me 500 for the removal and tear down of the trans. I have 1200 in the rebuild right now but am having some slight issues I must resolve.

Never have an e34 tranny rebuilt. Like mentioned above, it can cost up to three grand. either get a used one with warranty or order a rebuilt one (Core charge applies) and save over a grand. And thats factoring in the installation as well.
