ok back to bimmer. Just got CPO '07 black/tan vert over the weekend with 24k miles. it came with the 18 split spoke rims but want the 19 M6 look. After reading this thread was wondering what size tires would look best. i think if i go with the m6 size 255/40/19 and 285/35/19 it may be too tall? what have folks used for tire size and also what spacer size did you use?

replica wheels will ride the same at normal speeds.. you will NOT be able to tell a difference between factory OEM wheels and replicas unless:

1) you drive over 120mph
2) take to racetrack on hard turns

replicas are more likely to bend and or crack... but once again for normal driving they are just fine.

i just ordered a set of 20 inch m6 replicas.. only very few sets in the U.S that size. $2,300 with brand new tires.. 10 inch rear 9 inch front.

out of curiosity, exactly what differences would one notice if exceeding speeds of 120 mph on reps?

Yes please explain? I run my baby all the time at 120 to 150 no issues happy here and no vibrations at all maybe your set up is not right or with miros or you may need a new set of hub rings just a thought

I'm having the same problem with the M6 reps I just bought. At highway speed I'm feeling vibrations. I had them balanced twice and the 2nd time the rear driver side tire was off a bit and corrected. Took it out for a spin after and it seemed ok on the highway. Now its vibrating again, not as bad as before , and at the same time the temperature outside dropped about 10 degrees and I'm wondering if that makes a difference too. Regardless do you guys think the hub rings are the real issue here? My wheels did come with the set of rings which were installed but maybe I need other ones of a different size? I have a 2005 645ci. Any help is appreciated as I need to solve this quick. Also bought new yokohama summer tires so I don't want to screw those up with the wheels being unbalanced or vibrating.

Ensure you have the metal hub centric rings because the plastic rings have a tendency to melt from the heat generated by the brakes.

I do have the metal rings and they seem to be ok. I reduced the psi on the rear tires to 34 and front is at 32. Vibration is pretty much gone. I think it was just the cold weather lately making the summers feel even stiffer and tires inflated too much. Book says 29 front 32 rear for 19inch stock on 645ci 245/275. My mechanic put in 33 front and 39 rear but that was for stock 18's so that was a mistake. I also put in nitrogen instead of air and that seemed to help also.
