gas mileage

wondering how significant the difference is in gas mileage between the 3.0i and the 4.4i engines? I'll be doing mostly city driving, so I want to see if anyone might know how drastic the differences are....thanks..

I only have the 3.0, but I can post mine, and then others with the larger engine can post there's.

I'm getting about 16.9 a tank with air conditioning, mostly short hops (7 miles each way to work, then a really short sprint at lunch). I get 17.2 without the air.

I have a little under 4000 miles on the engine.

4.4i w/ 1600miles.

80/20 city/hwy, I get about 11.5mpg driving conservatively. Always kept it below 3krpm too. I floor it 2-3 times per tank that's all... I seem to be at around 11-12mpg when i drive normally now.

I sometimes reset the mpg when I'm in a hurry... 100% city driving, 15 miles later, I see 7.5 mpg.

Trip to vegas netted me 18.5mpg. Cruising on the strip got me about 9mpg.

I have the 4.4 and I'm averaging 15.9 for the first 5500 miles with a combo of 60-40 City/Hway.

I do NOT baby the engine and drive it like a BMW was meant to be.

Always use Premium 93 Octane.

I've got a 3.0 with 10,000 miles.

City 15.5 mpg (average 80% city)
Highway 20.5 mpg (average 95% highway)

EPA ratings for the car are 16/21. Pretty close to accurate if you ask me!

What are the EPA ratings for the 4.4 or 4.6?

Mine is a 3.0i 5sp with 36k miles.

Avg: 18.7 mpg (70/30 City/Hwy) w/AC "On" 90% of the time.

I can get over 19 mpg if doing 50/50 City/Hwy.

Smack,

You get slightly better gas mileage than me, but I feel better now because you're is a *little* better but you did go on the highway more often... knowing that I don't rev above 3000rpm. I'm betting octane and timing plays a small role too.
