Sport Mode Button on 2011 Diesel

According to the bmwusa website, the X5D is suppose to come with a Sport mode with the transmission. Can any Diesel owner confirm?

I believe in that link they are referring to moving the gear selector to the left, putting the transmission into "Sport" mode. I believe all recent BMW automatic transmissions come with this feature. Check the Owner's Manual for details.

If it means putting the transmission into Steptronic mode, yes.

With Adaptive Drive you get a separate Sport button (at the base of the gearshift) as well. I can't tell much difference if I use one vs. the other. Any hardcore types want to discuss?

SD shifter position gives more aggressive transmission shift points (higher RPMs).
The "Sport" button gives firmer suspension.
