Bluetooth 2006 why did they bother ?

I have a 2006 730D with bluetooth software ref: 81.10.9113247-01

According to BMW web site no mobile phones are fully compatible with this software so what was the point of putting in at all !!! It only lists two nokia devices for this software implimentation and these are only "audio" enabled, no phone book ar contact info etc..

Is there anyway to upgrade this software so it is more compatible with other telephones

frustrated

I did have a slight issue with a 2G iPhone, but it paired fine once I saw some advice about holding the CLR button on the pop out keyboard during the pairing process..

I would NOT buy into that tech spec BS on their site. Yes it is outdated. But it also said it was not compatible with my phones either! I currently have the newest Blackberry 9700 syched and it works flawlessly!

Don't believe everything you read on the internet ;-)

The best way to see if yor phone will work is to try it out. BT is BT...if it works with one BT unit it should work with any.

The 7 did have 2 types of BT, 1 which was locked to the phone in the pop out drawer and 1 which allows a snap in dock (centre console) to allow your own phone to be used..

I have the BT with the snap in dock as I have no phone in the drawer at the front. My rear armrest phone uses it's own sim, so my car has 2 phone numbers when used with the iPhone
