2011 X5 35i no ski bag

Has any one ordered their 2011 X5 with the Cold weather package and received the ski bag?
Not sure if I am missing something here, even the Build your own states you get a ski bag. According to the manual it is behind the rear arm rest but I see NADA just hard plastic.

2011 = no sky bag. Cold weather option price dropped from $1250.00 to $900.00.

It's still on the Build your own site, with the ski-bag for $900.

So it is, when I was given my print out at deposit time it showed the Cold Weather Package contents without the ski bag. Because I live in the south it didn't become a big deal but for others I'm sure it does. I was just caught up in the fact that the price dropped.

It's not a big deal for me either but I should get what I pay for. I am going to ask my CA about it. BMW has been on a penny pinching rampage lately, I'm wondering if this is another one.

BMW has a new option package - the Bait and Switch Package - it contains the cargo cover and the ski bag for $600. Too bad you have to pay for these items a second time if you want them.

Are you sure it's not there? It should be INSIDE that hard plastic divider (the divider is a box with the bag inside) Once you remove the divider by pulling the handle, press the small black round button on it to open the box. There should be a bag tightly packed inside.

What he said - my 335 coupe comes with a ski bag, I can't imagine they would eliminate it from an actual SUV.

Nope, there isn't any button what so ever, not a door, or a cut out in the back. All solid.

Think Ill call my CA tomorrow to find out whats the scoop. No one here with an X5 and cold weather that can check? I can't imagine that they would have installed the incorrect seat.

Yes, I am sure I have the cold weather package as its right on the window sticker.

See the pics below showing what I was describing. Some things that may be different... We have the Cold Weather Package, Heated Rear Seats, and the Third Row Seats. The middle seats are a bit different when you have the Third Row Seats, because they are forward/back sliding adjustable and they lift to provide access to the third row. Not sure if any of these could be a reason why ours might be different than yours.

Anyway, see the pics for example.

Definitely not what I have. I just have the rear heated seats with the cup holders in the center head rest.
I am going to give a call tomorrow.

Wow, that kinda sucks. Do you know if the cold weather package price was the same for the earlier builds as it is now? I would think that if it was, you should be entitled to some sort of refund from BMWNA or at least a good will gesture on their part. An email to BMWNA customer relations could never hurt.

Then again - BMW does reserve the right to change the packages at any time without notification, so it might just be the cost of being one of the very first to have a 2011 X5...

Right, but they cannot change it 'retroactively' nor can they mis-represent the content of the product.

So if they say "car has 300 HP" and you buy it, they cannot come out later and say "Oh, we are changing the spec to 200 HP"

They cannot say "This car has a ski bag" in the manual, then come out later and say "Oh, we deleted it"

This is why, with the luggage cover delete, BMW explicitly provided a notice as an addendum to the owners manual.

I picked Mine up last Tuesday, but they are saying back when I ordered it was not available. I found one of the early package builds that was posted on one of the forums and it didn't show the Ski-bag.

I bet production changes were the reason for delaying the BYO on the BMWUSA site.

My 2011 X5 35d came with a ski bag. Canada automatically gets the cold weather package in the base product and the ski bag is still there.

Seems as this was a few weeks decision. Don't think I can do anything about it now. Not a big deal, It just doesn't seem right that I should pay the same for the cold weather package when it has less in it.
