Question good repair shops in DC area

Hi. I'm new to the community. I have an '04 745Li, and my hood won't open! When I pull the release, nothing happens. I have low oil so I need to get it open soon.

I initially took it to Fairfax BMW, but when they wouldn't quote a price for the change, I just picked up the car because I've been ripped off there before. I took it by a few shops (foreign auto repair, and body shops), but nobody wants to mess with it. The people at the body shop wanted to break my custom grille to get it open, but by reading some of the threads on this forum, I see that there is a way to do it by going under the car.

Can anyone suggest a dependable shop that won't hustle me to get it open? I haven't done repairs on the car myself before, but the warranty recently ran out. I have finals next week, so I wish I had time to tinker with it myself.

Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks.

there are some good places in the Rockville area: Excluservice and Siggy's Auto

both are run by true BMW enthusiasts

Gotta give props to Auto Scandia.

I had a minor issue this week and have recently soured on my previous indy (Max @ EDA/Chevron in Mclean), came here, saw the recommendation (I had previously thought that they were only Volvo/Saab) and couldn't be more pleased/impressed with their service. Although I never expect to require maintenance/service on my '03 540 ever again (yeah, right), I know where I'll be taking it if I do!

Didn't know about Auto Scandia -- convenient to where I am.

Coincidentally, I recently opted not to return to EDA Motors as well. My experience has been the work is decent but overpriced and with little or no room for negotiation, e.g., charging for an hour's work to do a simple code read even if you have them do the fix (every indy I've ever known waived the diagnostic if you used them for the repair); charging full retail on parts or insisting on a 20% increase to their hourly if you bring your own (plus no warranty); and most frustrating, inflating labor time (such as insisting three hours on an easy one hour repair).

This pushed me over to Road Race Technologies, where my initial experience has been excellent, but they are a long drive.

What soured you on EDA, and what sold you on Auto Scandia?
