navigation issue

I have tried several different disks for BMW and when I insert it (into the correct player) nothing happens on the navi, it just says 'please insert navigation dvd)... anybody else have this problem?

I'm guessing either its a major issue with the dvd reader or it could hopefully be something minor and a cleaning will fix it. if you're under warranty take it to the dealer, if not then try a dvd player cleaning disc though I doubt it'll help.

Thanks Da, I went to bmw and they tried a couple different disks... They said they'll have to look into it, they think it might be a bad reader. It's under warranty, until august, phew.. That's a little scary though, I can't imagine why it could go bad like that like? I will keep you updated and let you know what they do

Meh, electronics... hell parts in general fail. Doubly so when you've got moving parts involved. Theres a lot that moves in a dvd player so many things can fail.

I just received a new nav disk from the dealer as part of my purchase. I get your same message with the new disk, but it still reads my old one fine.

has the i drive been update?

not sure? is that an update I can do myself, or does the dealer have to do it?

Dealer has to do it.

Im having the same problem. I just bought his car too its a cpo and I do not think Nav systems are covered...

what year is she? I brought my into bmw and they diagnosed it as a bad dvd drive. They replaced the drive and updated all systems to new idrive at no cost. Navi works great now

took mine in today and it ends up the nav cd was bad. Bought a new one and it works like a charm. the new cds are white instead of green.
