Research Questions

After having a few fun fast sedan/wagons(S4, S6 and E55) and now driving a Land Rover LR3, I am itching to get another powerful fun sedan.

I have always loved the M5's, when I bought my 2005 E55, the new M5's were just out and getting sticker plus... way more than the Merc. Anyway, the E55 was a comfortable drag-racer but compared to my S4 was just plain sloppy. The S6 was an 2002 wagon and was a good car but dated by todays performance standards.

Now, I am seeing that my dream car(E60 M5) is within reach price wise and wanted to know what I should look for and what, if any, years to avoid? I am in SoCal so I have a huge pool to work with locally but I want to take my time and find the right one.

I am sure a lot of you guys hate these types of threads but any and all help would be appreciated.

My best
