Drove the MiniCross event today. Not very organised, I was expecting something like the BMW Ultimate Drive events a couple years ago, but this was nothing like that. They started 30min late, I waited another 45min until I got a 2-lap turn, one of which was spoiled by improper timing and waiting for the lady in front to get around the course. Whatever.
I probably had unrealistically high expectations for the handling because I was let down by the Mini S that I drove. In retrospect, I shouldn't have used Sport mode because the throttle response was far too twitchy to finesse the thing thru the tight course. The tires had insufficient grip, although I know they've been abused all day, and basically would wheelspin if I used more than 70% throttle. I've never driven an overpowered front-drive vehicle and the drawbacks reared its ugly head big time. But I wouldn't have known that know would I? I wished I could have driven our 325i on the course
