Yes, you need a video module that connects to the NAV. The camera then connects to the video module. The image from the camera comes on the NAV screen.

I have mine hooked to the reverse light so the camera comes on when the car is in reverse. I also have a second trigger, a toggle switch, that allows me to turn on the camera when ever I wish.

If you have the CD based version MKII or MKII then you need one of the seven CDs.

If you have upgraded to the DVD MKIV then you only need one DVD.

Yes, you will need a video module. You can get one that does just a rear-view camera (no sound, etc.) or one with inputs to also do a DVD player.

I got mine from European Auto Source. I only went with a back up camera module and camera, no DVD player. You can contact them to check out your options, since the website may not show specifics for an E38.

That website and the stuff on it looks promising!

I liked board sponsor eas because I could trade e-mails and phone calls during the installation process when I had questions or problems.

I bought my TV tuner & 16x9 from BimmerNav back when Martin was the owner (years ago). It has since changed hands (new owner), & I don't know if the new owners was as helpful as Martin was.

I might add that buying a TV tuner today won't get you TV stations. Since the conversion from analog to digital TV signals, the BMW TV tuners don't pick up stations anymore.

Nope. Sorry. Lots of people find Navs & screens on ebay, especially European ebay.

From BimmerNav's website, it looks like they prefer emails, although they do list a fax number:
http://www.bimmernav.com/store/catal...bb9f53975c61d6

Doesn't look like they want you to call. If it were me buying from them, I'd email & ask for a contact phone number & then try it. If they don't offer a phone number, then proceed at your own risk. Just my $.02. I did notice their prices aren't inexpensive!

I replaced my original 4x3 screen with the newer 16x9 screen & plastic trim piece.

Pretty simple plug & play.
I did need to pull the negative battery cable (after the red LED in the Nav goes out) to re-synch the monitor.

Don't know a thing about that site.
