98 740iL - Hood stuck

New to forum, sorry to start with question but I need to go on business trip later and I can't get the hood of my 740il '98 up. Pulled cable inside nothing happens and the tab in the grill is unresponsive as well. Any tips would be helpful. Thanks.

When you pull the latch, does it feel spring loaded, or does it just feel like you are pulling with no resistance?

If it is spring loaded, then you should use some needle nose pliers and pull hard on the cable that is attached to the release lever.

If you feel no resistance in the lever, then maybe the release lever broke off of the cable that connects to the hood latch, or maybe the cable itself has broken. If the cable has broken, then you would need to lift the front of the car and hope that you have enough room to reach the hood latch without using the cable.

might also try having someone push down on the hood, right above the grilles while you pull and hold the hood release inside the car. then have them release pressure on the hood. this works sometimes. you must be holding the hood release inside the car the whole time until it hopefully opens. i had a similar problem a while back.
