iPhone 4 and iTouch connection problems

I have a late June prod 550i F10 (July 7th - ED) and I am having problems connecting my iPhone 4 and iTouch to my car. When I connect using the BMW Y-adapter, I get the playlist and songs; however, I do not get any sound. I connected my ipod classic (80GB) with the Apple supplied USB cable and it works great. I tried using the Apple USB cable on both the iphone and iTouch and the car can not read neither device it states "not a supported device".

Any advice?

You are plugging in both ends of the y cable to the car correct?
This may not be your issue but originally I was only plugging in the 3.5mm jack and not the USB connector and was not getting any sound.

No, I just plugged the USB connector; I will tried connecting both ends.

That will solve it then. Plug in both ends and report back when you get a chance.
