E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

Rear Window Sunshades (Install and Pics)

As I am not much a fan of aftermarket tint, I decided to try the BMW Rear Window Sunshades to keep the car a bit cooler in the summer. The Sunshades are sold as the side window shades (you get both the driver and passenger) and rear window shade. Not as nice as the rolling sunshades on the bigger models, but still very nice, and they install in seconds.

Each includes a nice storage bag for when the sunshades are not in use (rear sunshade on the right):

The Sunshades fold up easily to pack smaller:

And easily unfold:

Installing the Sunshades

Installation is very easy, to install the side sunshades, slide the back corner in first, engaging the rear clip (it simply slides between the glass and the C-Pillar).

Then slide the front edge into place. Slide the front clip back and then slide it into place.

To install the Rear Sunshade, slide the bottom edge in first and then install the top edge.

When installed, you can still see out from inside the car:

hey LZ, how pricey we're these? Do you know if they make them for a 2000 E39, 528i to be exact? I'm looking for passenger & driver side rear windows as well as rear windshield and want something nice like this without having to take the car apart to do it.

Let me know.

Best,

R

They make them for a bunch of models that I know of: E46, E83, E92, E82... Try searching your specific model and year in www.realoem.com

(Perhaps in the accessory section - but snoop around all sections).

I have them in my R53 (MINI) and they are great. Higly recommend if you are looking for removable shades that fit perfectly.

Got the factory shades in the E90 which are nice too.

Hey Jacmac & ADC...thanks for the info. Went to realoem and I think I found them. Can you recommend any BMW Dealers or other places to actually purchase them?

Thanks,

These days I mostly order from Tischer BMW in MD, which is owned by Mile One:
www.mileone.com, then go to Parts. Or just call Tischer and ask for their part department, so they can check and make sure you get the correct item.

But also try Circle BMW or Pacific BMW, they sometimes have very good prices...

I need the shades, too 4 E39

I see the 1 series with the shades and it looks delicious. I will do anything to get the E39 Supplementary SunSet Blind, Shade, Visor, Shield, Sunprotector or whatever it is called. I like the look so much. It is neat as ****.

Does anyone know if these are the ones you can get with a new car?

Just two problems with tint:
- Have you ever tried to remove tint?
- Tint is just too gangsta for me.

No offense...

- im planning to do but only 80% light so it's going to be very light, not gangsta at all! kinda of smoke effect.

Andy, I want to get these. I have two questions.

Can these shades be left in at night? Or are they for daytime only use?

Have a look at realoem.com for the part numbers. Here is the diagram for the rear door blinds: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=51&fg=50&hl=3

Hi jsc,

thank you so much for pointing me to the correct part. Actually I was looking for after market sunshades or the one that can be install easily like plug n play.
this is something I am looking for , but the problem is that they only ship in UK.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-5-Series-S...#ht_500wt_1182

Here is the website, they build custom sunshades for the car model that can be install easily.
http://www.uvcarshades.co.uk/

Can I find something similar to this in US, really appreciate all your help.

naveed

You will have better luck in the 5 Series forum rather than the 1 Series forum

Find the part numbers on www.realoem.com - should be somewhere in the VEHICLE TRIM area (retrofits or accessories, just browse all categories).

Armed with the part number, go to www.getbmwparts.com which is Tischer BMW in Silver Spring MD - buy and enjoy.
