Arrow 1986 535i HELP dies and sometimes won't start

Okay, this is my first BMW, I recieved a 1986 535i in a trade, when this thing is on the road it drives great other than a little wobble(different rims that I think need to be balanced). It's a whole new story on start up or in traffic. The car idles a little under 1000 and if I don't rev hard right when I turn the car on and rev every now an then in traffic it'll die and won't start. Sometimes it won't start at all when I put the key to the acc postition the only thing that works is the radio and none of the check/warning lights in the cluster work. Another issue is when I hit bumps or potholes it's like I lose throtle for that second. Now here's the kink the motor is a e34 that was swapped in idk what year and it has the split second ARC2 system installed. Any help would be appreciated! The car is in great condition if only I could get past this tough patch I'd love this car right now it's just a head ache.

Sounds like you should start with the electrical system; fuses, battery and ground connections, etc. Then I'd clean up the IAC and MAF sensor and throttle body. Look for vacuum leaks. Which e34 motor? You might want to post or search in their forum. Transplants always have the same problem; which set of specs to use? If it's well documented you'll likely figure it out. If it's not, there will be some guessing involved. good luck.
