E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

Question 135i Central Locking Fault

Morning all,

Got a problem with my 135i - the key won't activate the central locking either to lock or unlock, and nor will the central locking button on the dashboard inside the car. However, the central locking works completely fine upon driveaway. The key also works completely fine to run the car and also to open/close the windows remotely.

So individually, the key works fine and the central locking works fine but I can't get the car to lock other than using the skeleton key manually in the door.

I've used a BMW diagnostic kit which threw up Car Access System fault code 'A0AE'

Any ideas?!

Thanks

I know this an old thread. My 2005 118d has just developed same fault. How did you get fixed? Thanks - Bryan

Hi Bryan,

In my case the issue was caused by the car being in an engineer mode inadvertently caused by me plugging in to the ODBC port.

I took it to my local dealer, they put it back into normal mode, and the car was back to normal.

10 minute job!

Hope it helps.

Max
