Why BMW changed the rear rim size for staggered setup in F10?

Just curious. Does anyone know why BMW changed from 8.5 front and 9.5 rear (19" sports/m-sport E60) to 8.5 front and 9 rear (19" F10)?

I wonder if this has to do with handling or the dimensions of the larger F10?

The front suspension changed dramatically and the rear was improved in the F10. Therefore, the engineers need to look at the wheel setup again for balanced handling. Typically, offset is used to counter over/under steer tendencies of the chassis. The F10 is corners much more level and has a lower roll axis than the E60. Also the new front suspension prevents the roll axis from having a front dive during cornering which leads to lift in the rear corners. Likely, that is the specific reason for the reduced stagger.

When you have your tires rotated can they change the rears to the front and the front to the rears or just front left to right front etc.

BMW does not recommend rotating tires. Period.

you cant rotate staggered wheels ....but new tires if they go bad....also if rear wheel drive the rears are going to wear pretty quick... as far as staggered all sports package cars have it...i think the quality of the rims is a bit better now as opposed to last two cars...tires seem a little bit more "regular"

FYI The F10 528 sports package does not come with staggered but 18 all around with 245-45s all around.
