Failing pixels

E38's - Has anyone successfully completed pixel failure by replacing the ribbon cable(s)? If so, who was your source for parts?

Which pixels are you referring to, the ones on the MID, the climate control unit, or the instrument cluster?

I replaced the climate control cables in mine and they're working great! The cables were about $30 shipped for the pair. I don't recall where I got them from, but if you're interested, I can dig through my credit card bill and find the vendor for you.

I also have a ton of photos from the procedure - so if anyone wants a writeup, let me know.

What's the best way to upload a PDF file? I have their instructions scanned in, I'll be more than happy to provide a link once I know how/where to upload it without angering the mods.

Awesome...currently my MID shows lines only at best; although tape, radio and cd can be heard for at least 4min before turning off...My instrument panel/display leds are weak and can not be read accept for the occasional short lived temperature reading or mileage...Please post any information you feel may be helpful and pics would be excellent!!!

i have the same problem and was wondering if cleaning the pixels vs buying a new ribbon cable? any help would be great!
