Why would this be an option? If it's an option that means they would charge for it, right? They don't seem to be charging for the option on the X5 builds according to some of these build sheets. Would it makes sense for them to install the housing, then give the user the option to upgrade to Xenon bulbs? That sounds completely dumb.

On the upcoming F25 X3, the standard headlamps will be halogen and not have any corona rings. By paying $900 for the Bi-xenons, you will also get the LED corona rings, bi-xenon headlamps, and the adaptive headlight control.

A different CA at San Fran BMW emailed me because my CA is out of the office, this is what he had to say:

It appears that the 8TL option is not available for the 2011 X5's- I do not believe that they have re-labeled this option in another fashion. I have looked into what I could regarding this. Please let me know how I can be of further help- your X5 is going to go into production any day now.

So confused!? Why would you guys have this on your build sheets if what this guy and my CA says is true... or are they just sorely misinformed!? Too bad nobody at BMW reads these forums as they could put a lot of people here at ease.

Parse what he wrote: "appears" and "what I could".

Not definitive, simply a reply to make it seem like he is answering you, but really a non-answer.

Send the CA a redacted section of someone else's build sheet!

Guess I need to go back to my dealer and get my build sheet, they have not provided one to me. I ordered last week, and per the BMW website, it is still "on order" and has not gone into production. My site also shows a different color combo than what I ordered, so that must be common.

Can someone please post their build sheet here with both options?

I started this thread because the Dealerspeed sheet I got with my order at the end of August had the 6VC and 8TL options. Yesterday, the bmwusa website showed my status as "schedule for production" and the color choices are now correct.

I got updated Dealerspeed sheets today and the 8TL option is no longer shown. The 6VC is still there. I'm now at status 150 as well.

In summary, the 8TL was there but now its gone.

Confusing, but, not really surprising.

Like many of you, I am subscribed to this thread. I know I am old and cranky, but it really does get tiring to keep receiving email notifications that a new post has been made ... to open up BF to see if there is any substantive news ... only to find out that someone else is just rehashing rumor and innuendo.

The week 40 builds should start arriving soon, so here's my request: will the first forum member who actually RECEIVES his week 40 build, sign on and let the rest of us know whether the rumored 8TL is or is not on his SAV, and if so, what it provides? And until that first real owner / lessee posts, could the rest of us just STFU and sit tight? (Myself included).

i originally had a September build car and my build sheet did not have the 6vc code. I learned about the move in production to October and delayed my build. My new production sheet for October build does have the 6VC combobox code. The car went into production on the 3 day of October and my SA just called and said it was released and loaded onto the truck yesterday and is on route to naperville. He double and triple checked that I would get the 6vc code. Not to mention a 80k build might get your SA working for you. Not to mention I am itching to pick up a new F11 550 M/sport and he does not want to loose that 76k purchase either.

I just checked my build which the order was placed 9/30/10 and the build started on 10/8/10, and the 6VC combobox code was listed on my build no LED light code though. I will be up at the performance delivery in three weeks if people want me to give them a list of questions directly to the plant and see if I get answers.
