1990 525i fan clutch removal

I need help i am new to cars (and bimmerfest) and this is my first car. I am in the process of putting in a new waterpump in my 1990 525i. i am stuck with the fan clutch. I dont know how to take it off. Anybody know?

Use a 32 mm wrench to take it off. It is REVERSE thread, so righty loosey, lefty tighty.

Hey i have tried turning it. It turns easily and have turned it quite a bit but it wont come off for some reason. I will go give it quite a try but it just seems to be spinning but not losening. Thanks for the reply.

use a large pipe wrench or strap wrench on the fan clutch to hold it from spinning. use 32mm wrench and turn nut, left hand thread so standing in front of the car you would turn wrench to the right. you might need to give the wrench a quick tap with a hammer to loosen the nut but it should come right off it is only torqued to about 6 ft lbs.

It really weird the bolt spins freely even when holding down the fan clutch the bolt just spins. I dont no why but it just spins freely and never loosens
or tightens?

Hold the pulley not the clutch.

Thanks everyone I brought a mechanic in to help me and figure it out.

i tried to get my fan clutch off and one at a yard the day before yesterday and crushed my finger on another pulley with my brother trying to loosen it

you can also you a 1 1/4 inch wrench, it is about the same as the 32 mm. (lot cheaper at autozone)
