1974 BMW 3.3Li spotted today (Type E3)

I spotted this car today - and also got to talk to the owner.

He had bought it 1982 - restored the front and drove it until 1986. This year he brought it back to life again.

It's the "long" version (shorter than a 2010 BMW 5er F10) and even equipped with A/C (rarity in the year 1974)

Looks like a standard issue (but well restored) BMW Bavaria. Both my '75 and '76 02's had A/C.

Back seats appear different. Too bad we don't see these lines anymore.

That's just rear headrests. Available as an option.

Regardless of the headrests if you look closely the OP's photo, the red 3.3 clearly has two separate back seats. BTW that grey one got me started with BMWs. What ever became of the designer? Read somewhere he was french.

Ah HAH! I see said the blind man. Good eye. The 3.3L did have a tall divider in the center of the rear transmission hump and divided, leather seats. As far as I can tell, we didn't get 3.3L's here. It would be a nice one to import.

Brings to mind Jackie O's BMW. Same seats and far nicer color I would say. What's interesting is the derivation of the OP's "L"? If not Long then Luxe possibly?

Supposedly,it was lengthened between the B and C pillars for more rear seat room. Tough to tell from these pictures, though. I understand there was a lot of confusion between the models- even then.

Man, that's a nice E3; thanks for posting Alfred.

There are a couple of nice E3 for sale on mobile.de asking crazy high prices. Do you have a feel for what fair prices really are for cars like this?
