Welcome to Bimmerfest.

Nice X5!

How much torque does that diesel offer?

Torque

Hi in standard form is 184Bhp and 288lbft@1750
This is Hartge tuned to 210-220Bhp and 345Lbft@1950
see http://www.birds.uk.com/bmw/Hartge/p...c%20Diesel.pdf

The Hartge Motronic turns an already great vehicle into a real surprise. Never going to be as quick as the E46 330 it replaced, but I find it just as much fun to drive.

Thanks for the welcome

Previous Wheels

Oregan Blue 330 4 Door E46 (2000-2003)
Red 320 4 Door E30 (1990-2000) (215,000 miles and not a rattle)
Red Nissan 300Zx Twin t (1989-1990) Never again

Curiously, I was 34 degrees south of the equator and now I live 34 degrees north of the equator.

Is it faster 0-60, or able to pull more? I never have grasped the concept of torque, but am willing to give it another try.

Torque is the power to twist/spin the wheels - you'll notice it when you leave a stoplight, or climb a hill. Even 10 ft/lbs makes a noticable difference.

Horsepower is better for top speed.

You are better off (in the United States) with a high torque engine as we don't spend much time above 80 mph.

The X5 with that diesel must be sweeeeeeeeet!

I don't have a 0-60 time, but its noticably quicker than standard, the top end is still capped at 124 but thats not an issue, the ability to pull well in any gear and tow with ease makes it a cracking drive.

Do you guys have the diesel 330 in the US ?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the last diesel BMW we have had in the States was the 524td in the late 80's. I think it was an E28 chassis!

I wish BMW would bring us a few.

I'm Amazed, the 330D is not much slower than the 330i and with bags of Torque. Maybe next year.

Currently its a 12 month waiting list for the x5 3.0 d in europe, the engines are in great demand. The 2004 engine is even better, i understand the 3.0 has 220bhp as standard,
