Gas Mileage

I've got 975 miles on my 535i M Sport and am averaging (per vehicle computer) 19.3 mpg. Surprised it isn't better. Thoughts?

could be many factors.
First of all check cold tire pressure. As you know we have had very cold temps for So Cal, underinflated tires will kill your average MPG.
other possibiities:
1. Engine breaking in
2. driving style
3. city/highway breakdown
4. Short trips vs. Long trips

Manufacturers guidelines regarding fuel consumption are almost always based on absolute best case scenario. For example my F10 535d is supposed to get 46MPG combined. I've driven it very carefully for 250miles since new and I get closer to 30MPG. They must assume that the terrain is always flat and there is a gale force wind behind you.

I just posted the same exact information (19.3 mpg) on another thread. I believe that my driving habits have contributed to this lower gas mileage. I have been using DS mode and have been pushing the vehicle to accelerate because I like the way the F10 moves and sounds when you make it move. I am also just reaching the end of the 1,200 mile break in period. I have not, however, pushed the F10 past the tolerances set forth in the manual during the break in period.

I asked my CA about the real world FE of the F10/535xi and one of other CA who drives one says he is getting 26.7 MPG or 8.8 L/100 KM. He said he drives maybe 80% Highway/20% City.

My current car a 335d is getting me 33.6 MPG or 7 L/100KM and I do not have to be gentle with the accelerator.

I am hoping that BMW brings in the F10/535d next year and I will likely get one as I do like the much new interiors and NAV of the F10.

Having driven a diesel it's hard for me to get back to a gasser.

I think it is purely based on your driving style and road conditions.

For me the fuel mileage during break in has been 20.5 mph with average speed 28 mph in my short city commutes. Averaged 30.5 mph recently on a 260 mile round trip freeway drive at speed limit 70 +10 mph sustained with occasional bursts to 90 or 100.
