320i change gear oil
Does anyone know how to change gear oil in a 1.8l 320i? Or at least an easy way to do it?

If you mean the differential fluid then it's actually pretty easy. I just did mine this weekend. I drove the rear of the car up on ramps. Crack open the filler plug on the diff cover with a hex socket, I forget what size 13MM? Get a drain pan and open the lower plug and drain the diff. Replace the lower plug and refill with gear oil. I needed about 2 quarts and used Mobil synthetic 75W90. All together took about 20 minutes including cleaning the diff housing.

Thanks man. I was under my car yesterday and saw it once I jacked it up. Now I need to get a big enough socket or possibly an Allen wrench

No problem. Here's a pix after cleaning the diff cover.

Hi - Is there a gasket for the cover?

Yes, there is a gasket for the cover part #2 in the picture. You don't need to remove the cover to do a oil change. There are 2 aluminum washers/gaskets on the drain & fill plugs #14 that should be replaced.
