And chicks dig wagons because they like men that aren't affraid to be committed. What better way to say: "I am ready to start a family," than to drive a wagon.

(I told my wife recently that if I am stuck again getting the family car next (unlikely) that I am thinking about a wagon... Is there a support group I can join?)

This thread brought back a memory. Quite a few years ago now I had just recently divorced and moved from California to Great Falls VA. I brought with me a new Ford 150 and a new Merc 560SEL. I started dating a little bit and had gone out with a particular woman a few times. I had always taken the Benz on our dates. I went to pick her up again one night but was driving the truck (which by the why was loaded with nice leather etc.). When she saw the truck she got a disturbed look on her face and immediately asked where the Benz was. She made several more comments about it over the course of the evening. Two things happened as a result. I sold the Benz the next week and never saw that particular woman again. When I met my current wife a few months later I knew that it wasn't the car she was interested in.

Along with the aforementioned inference of "women are attracted to a single guy in a wagon b/c they assume he's ready to commit/raise a family," there's also:

"women are attracted to a single guy in a wagon because they assume he's completely secure in his masculinity and doesn't need a sportier-looking/potentially less practical type of car to woo them"

and finally,

"women are attracted to a single guy in a wagon because he probably needs it for a cute dog or fun, cool stuff he does over the weekends. Maybe he's a surfer or a snowboarder? If so, that's pretty hot."

Or maybe a cute,fun,hot snowboarding/surfing dog

Spend less than you earn and put as much into retirement (pension, IRA, 401k) as you can afford plus put money into savings. I retired at 51.

Why do you care? To paraphrase what I have to assume someone said earlier in this thread, which spares me the effort of actually reading the thread, " With chicks you won't always have wagons, but with wagons you'll always have chicks." I think it's sort of like, if you give a man a fish he won't go hungry that night, but if you give him a wagon, he can haul tuna til the wheels drop off.

Anyway, Dude, it's not you, it's the wagon. Nowhere outside of a Vonnegut yarn has anyone been heard to say "Chicks dig Kilgore Trouts." This is not a diss– it is an unassailable truth that chicks dig wagons. This is a good thing.

By way of illustration and in no way meant to encourage others, my exaggerated afro, platform shoes, gold chains hanging down a hairy chest style lasted well into the mid 90's before I affected a gangsta look. Yet the flow of quality chicks did not cease, as I was fortunate to, at that time, have the means to upgrade my wagon every couple of years. That move alone kept me well in the game to this day. An embarassment of riches that won't run out until either BMW stops exporting wagons to the States or Social Security finally runs out of money. In the former scenario, I'll just move North and get me wif some Canadian chicks, who presumably also dig wagons. In the latter, more likely scenario, well I have to admit I have been frequenting pharmaceutical supply houses on the weekends to see what I'll need to outfit the ol' Touring as a mobile meth lab to supplement the meager return on piddly investments.

The point is simply not only do chicks dig wagons, but with wagons there is always hope. And opportunity. Or something like that.
