Radio Japanese frequencies -help pls
I purchased a 2001 BMW Z3 from a Nissan dealer who disconnected the battery and didn’t have the radio code. I did the memory “M” thing and got the S/N and the dealer gave me a code that only works with Japanese radio frequencies, 76 MHz – 89. I recently received the owner’s radio card with another code, and it only works with frequencies 76 MHz – 89. The radio always shows “code wait” and I have disconnected the battery, and waited a hour to try to re-set it. I have press the M button to try to change the area to USA Area, but it will not take the code, and work. Appreciate any help. thanks

I believe you need to have the battery connected and the key turned on for an hour to get rid of the "code wait" so you can enter a new code.

The reason I asked how many #s is that 4 is a europe code for radio. Once you get code set in radio go to M button and change to USA.

Japanese Codes
If the car was an import from Japan, then you're going to have to purchase a new radio. My son has a 91 E34 525i. It was a German mport to Japan then to Canada. We've tried and I even contacted Sony. It has a Sony BMW system. They advised it's not possible.

Thanks for all the replies. Turning the key on for a hour did the trick.
