DTC is off . Mechanic says the ABS/DTC is defective however everything is working properly except the M is running without DTC mode on.
QUESTION: Could it be a FUSE that is defective and not the Unit itself since everything is working except the DTC. ABS is fine. IF SO which fuse is it? 2001 M Roadser.

Don't know about the M but went through this with my wife's 2001 3.0 Coupe. From your post I assume DSC light is on and ABS light is off. If so it could be the controller or the steering angle sensor but before you spend lots of money on any of these check and see if there is a low voltage code in the computer. This can cause the steering angle sensor to shut down and turn the DSC off. Resetting the steering angle sensor clears it up.

Rad, thanks for your response. But everything works except the DTC. ABS light is not on, brakes are steering etc. only DTC off light is on(if that makes sense) and DTC is not working, so vehicle is always in off DTC mode.

Same thing happend on my 04 Z4. Mechanic found a bad sensor on the rear brake. Has that been checked on yours?

Any of the wheel sensors will trigger both ABS and DTC lights. If its only the DTC and the ABS works OK I would have them look at the steering angle sensor and if it is not reading correctly have them recalibrate it first - that may fix the problem.

Am I missing something here? I didn't think any Z3, including the M had DTC. DSC yes, DTC, no.
